country life

This was my view this morning when I took the dog out. That is the moon still bright in the sky. Love country living.

The other day, the little piglets found the mud after an over night rain. It was so much fun to watch them play. Later, hubby pulled a stray stalk of corn and have it to them. They squealed and sorted and thoroughly enjoyed chewing on it. I could watch them for hours. They are soooooo cute. They are growing by leaps and bounds.

5 More Piglets

5 more piglets

These are from the same line as our last litter.
This means we have a total of 7 Super boar/Prudence boars up for sale if anyone is interested. This sow did it all on her own. Hubby found them when he went to do afternoon chores. She didn't seem that interested in them so he did what his grandpa taught him. He pushed her into the barn along with babies and shut them in together. She was nursing them in no time. She also seems to think she has to cover them with straw at night like she's tucking them in. Today we got these 5 ear notched with barely a peep from any of them. As soon as one was put back in, it would run back to the others baby grunting like it was telling the others what happened. Love little piggy sounds.
Contact us if you are interested in a boar.
We will also have 5 barrows ready to butcher before fall, so let us know if you are interested in some meat. Yum!

9 New piglets

We are pretty excited to share our new additions. 9 little piggies born yesterday on a 90° day. They are the first of our second generation born from a sow that was born from our first Large Blacks. They are from a Super/Warbler boar and a Noble Sam/Prudence gilt. We are so proud of her. She basically did all the work herself while hubby stood by incase he was needed.
